Alma 29:9

I know that which the Lord hath commanded me, and I glory in it. I do not glory of myself, but I glory in that which the Lord hath commanded me; yea, and this is my glory, that perhaps I may be an instrument in the hands of God to bring some soul to repentance; and this is my joy.

Farewell Pembroke

Honestly not a lot to report, it has been a slow week with a lot of lessons canceled on us. Sherman is getting the Priesthood next Sunday though.

I still don't know where I am going.  I am a little sad to be leaving Pembroke, I took some pictures with some of the members, but I am also excited to go to my next area.

I'm glad that Kiley had a great wedding.  Where is she going to live at?  And what are going to be her plans now?

That is crazy that Sis. Embry is home from her mission!  I remember home teaching the family when she left!

Is Rob making the Hills new house the one students will be building for the year?

I like that thought (Gordon B Hinckley “Lord, Increase Our Faith”).  I was reading an  Ensign article the other day on what to do when you don't know what to do.  And the answer is ask the Lord for guidance and go and do what ever he tells to do even if you don't know why to do it.

I love you and I will email you next week.

One more week in Pembroke

This week has been a good week. We did meet some new investigators this week because they wanted a free bible from Lumbee Homecoming.

I do not know where I am being transferred to yet, hopefully I find out by next Monday.

I did receive the package, thank you so much!!  The voice recorder is exactly what I was looking for.  The cookies are in good condition too.

It sounds like things are really crazy back home.  I didn't know Kiley had dogs, it sounds like they prefer dogs over kids.  I still can't believe Kiley is getting married!

That is crazy that Austin and Andrew are having their homecoming and farewell on the same day!

I'm really sad to hear about Daulton and Jaxon.  It is really sobering when someone you knew that was your age back home has died.

Those who follow Jesus Christ have to be united, if they are not united they will fail.  One thing I have found to help me become more united is feeling empathy towards others.  I feel that only Christ can give us empathy.  How else can we develop empathy for others if we haven't been in their situation.  But empathy can only come if we truly want to love our fellow human beings.

I love you and hopefully I will have some more news for you next week.

Good News from Pembroke

Sherman's baptism was great!  He was so happy!  He actually gave a lesson the next day in church on baptism.

We haven't had any investigators yet from the Lumbee Homecoming but media referrals take some time to get to us.

Elder Hjorth is doing good, we actually found last Thursday that he is training next transfer which means I am officially leaving Pembroke at the end of July.  We are losing a lot of Elder this upcoming transfer including Elder McHan.

I would really love some new shoe laces and I would love for a audio recorder.  I have tried the whole writing in a Journal and I hate it and I just can't do it.  Plus my handwriting is pretty bad still so it's difficult to read it anyways.  Same thing goes for typing or else my emails would be longer.  So I want make an audio journal.

I like that thought from Dallin H Oaks you sent.  I was reading today and how Jesus is the vine and we are the branches.  If we are not humble then we are not relying on Jesus, which means we cut ourselves off from vine and we will wither and spiritual die.  Humility is the key to having communication from God.

I love you so much and I will email you again next week.

Lumbee Homecoming

This week has been a crazy week! The Hurricane did not do much to us though. We got a little bit of rain from the Hurricane, I don't think Jacksonville was hit as hard as most people thought it would be either.

Fourth of July was also rather quiet, but Lumbee Homecoming was crazy!! We literally gave out over a thousand pass along cards.  We hope a lot of people respond to the card and request to have missionaries over. We should be stopping by someone tonight who we met at Lumbee Homecoming. The event was huge and there were people everywhere. I was wiped out by the end. We mostly stayed by the booth, while the sisters walked around.

Sherman is doing great! He
will get baptized on Saturday the 12th!! Many of our other investigators were out of town, so we will see how they are doing this week.

It sounds like you all had a fun 4th of July! Does that mean Jonathan will start learning karate? Anything more on Kiley's wedding?

As a missionary you have to love The Lord. He gives you strength and spiritual capacity needed to be a missionary. He also provides you with the proper motivation to do missionary work. It cannot be understated what The Lord does for you.

I hope you have a great week and I will email you next week.
